27 May The reality of wedding day
Can we have a real walk for a second?
Covid has changed everything. Especially if you have been planning a big wedding.
Now there’s so much more to think about. From your out of state guests to safety of gathering. From table settings to your own makeup and hair.
We get it! The uncertainty has created a lot more stress and potential changes to your wedding planning process.
But despite all of what’s going on, how can you still have an amazing experience for your wedding day?
Here are a few tips I’d like to share in hope that it will ease your stress and brighten your day a little bit.
- Give yourself more time if possible. If normal wedding planning takes anywhere from 6 months to 1 year, allow yourself an extra couple of months to plan out the details and work with your vendors.
- Expecting imperfections and be ok with it. In the last 9 years we’ve seen it all on normal wedding days. Someone is going to forget something. Some of your guests will be late or flake out at the last minute. You may forget something, the flower may not be exactly how you like. Just expecting ahead of time that there’s going to be some imperfections will hopefully calm down your anxiety and stress. Because think about it, we usually get stressed or even mad when things don’t go our way don’t we. But if we can expect that is part of life, it seems to be easier when it actually happens. I can certainly speak from my own experience on my wedding day and wishing we had prepared shading for the hot afternoon wedding ceremony, wishing we had hired a different wedding photographer, wishing I wasn’t feeling so stressed out at the moment…but it doesn’t help! So, perhaps working on expecting less and plan more will give you that better experience.
- More and better self-care!!! This is something all brides to be should be doing. This is a time we are called to reevaluate things in our lives and about ourselves. Are you taking care of yourself? Are you eating healthy and getting good amount of exercise? Are you doing anything to stress less and perhaps having a more positive outlook for life in general and for your wedding?
I hope these few tips are helpful for you to plan your wedding and get a realistic look for the wedding day.
